Guided tours and children’s workshops in Murcia natural parks
Various activities are being held during the month of October in the regional parks of Murcia to celebrate international World Birdlife Day, which falls on the first weekend of the month.
The parks involved are the Parque Regional Sierra Espuña and Parque Regional Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatar with the activities programmed including the following:
Throughout October: “Aves Urbanas” exhibition at the Parque Regional Sierra Espuña.
This is a chance to learn about various of the bird species which can be seen in the towns and cities of the Region of Murcia, and at the same time a celebration of the variety which birds bring to cityscapes.
The exhibition is open at the Ricardo Codorniú visitors’ centre from 9.00 to 14.00 and 15.00 to 17.30.
Throughout October: “Las aves de las salinas”, children’s activity at the Parque Regional Salinas de San Pedro.
A puzzle featuring aquatic bird species which inhabit the salt flats of San Pedro del Pinatar. The activity takes place from 9.00 to 14.00 and 15.00 to 17.30 at the Las Salinas visitors’ centre.
Saturday 3rd October: “Tan cerca…tan lejos”, guided tour in the Parque Regional El Valle y Carrascoy.
This activity includes an introductory chat, games, interactive participation and the collaboration of specialist ornithologists, who will be explaining aspects related to the birds which are housed at the wildlife recovery centre.
The activity is recommended for anyone aged over 7, and lasts from 10.00 to 13.30. Prior registration is required by telephone on 968 379677, and those of limited mobility are welcome.
Saturday 3rd October: “¿Te imaginas un mundo sin aves?”, guided tour in the Parque Regional Sierra Espuña.
As part of the local fiestas in Fuente Librilla, this guided tour has been organized in and around the town in order for participants to learn about the birds living there.
The activity is appropriate for anyone aged over 8, and takes place between 10.00 and 13.30. Places are limited to 30, and prior registration is required by telephone on 968 431430 or by email at correo infosierraespuna@carm.es. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Sunday 4th October: “Pajaritos en tus dedos”, workshop at the marina in the Parque Regional Salinas de San Pedro.
This activity coincides with the Correlimos 13.4 fun run, and enables participants to learn more about various species of birds. Both adults and children are welcome, although youngsters must be accompanied by an adult.
The activity lasts from 10.00 to 13.00, and no prior registration is necessary. Those of limited mobility are welcome.
Wednesday 7th October: “Aves que viven con nosotros” children’s workshop in Alhama de Murcia.
This workshop takes place from 11.00 to 13.30 in the Plaza de la Constitución in Alhama de Murcia, and concerns some of the bird species which live around us. Those of reduced mobility are welcome, and prior registration is not required.

From October to May all centres are open from 9.00 to 14.00 and 15.00 to 17.30. From June to September the opening hours are 8.30 to 15.30.
