The rudimentary structure in the mountains is described as being of great ethnological value
14,000 euros have been spent by the regional government of Murcia and the Agroeconatura association on the restoration of a traditional sheepfold in the Valdelaparra area of the mountains of Sierra Espuña.
These rudimentary structures were used in the past by shepherds to shelter their flocks at night or from predators and inclement weather, and the Department of the Environment in the regional government describes the one in Valdeparra as being of “great ethnological value”.
