A paraglider pilot broke his hip and femur during an accident in Moriana, Sierra Espuña, whilst paragliding on Sunday.
His colleagues witnessed the accident and alerted 112 that he had crashed near to the water tank and that they were travelling to the location by car to locate him, providing the emergency services with the co-ordinates of the injured man.
A patrol from the Local Police of Alhama de Murcia was the first to reach the scene, followed by a Mobile Emergency Unit and an ambulance.
The Local Police patrol confirmed the location of the injured man, who fortunately, was only 50 meters from the road, which meant that additional assistance would not be required and the ambulance would be able to park close-by.
The 43-year-old man from Alcantarilla, an experienced pilot and member of the Murcia Costa Cálida Club, was stabilised at the scene before being transferred to the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital with a broken hip and femur.
