ARCHIVED - September 18 volunteer beach clean-up in Santiago de la Ribera
San Javier is collaborating again this year in the “Proyecto Libera contra la basuraleza”
Coinciding with World Cleaning Day, a beach clean-up is being organised in Santiago de la Ribera on September 18 and volunteers are asked to sign-up for the initiative and do their bit for the environment.
The municipal Council of San Javier is collaborating with the LIBERA Project, run by waste concessionary Ecoembes and the SEO / BirdLife organisation, which focuses on clearing up the garbage abandoned by inconsiderate members of the public in natural spaces, and is hosting a beach clean-up on Saturday September 18.
The message of this initiative is that each small individual action adds up and that small gestures such as cleaning up in a local area contributes towards preventing thousands of kilos of rubbish from going into the sea.
Volunteers are requested to meet at the Barnuevo esplanade, in Santiago de la Ribera, on Saturday September 18 at 10.00, although due to the limitations imposed by Covid, pre-registration is required. To participate, send an email to environment@sanjavier.es, indicating name, contact telephone number and age.
The organisation provides gloves and binbags, but if you are a little sensitive about these items adding to the unnecessary use of plastic in the world, take your own gloves and recycled rubbish bags along with you.
