ARCHIVED - 1.9 magnitude mini-earthquake recorded off Santa Pola coast, Alicante
This is the 11th quake recorded along this particular stretch of Alicante coastline so far this year
More seismic activity has been recorded along Alicante coastline between the province capital and Torrevieja.
At 6.18pm on Thursday August 4, the National Geographic Institute registered a 1.9 magnitude earthquake with the epicentre located 9km deep some 40 km off Santa Pola coast.
This is the 11th earthquake to occur along the Alicante coastline, between Alicante and Torrevieja, so far this year and comes just days after a mini-quake in the same area.
A 1.7 magnitude quake was recorded between Cabo de Santa Pola and Alicante on May 31, and 10 days ago, Torrevieja, an area of high seismic acitivity in Alicante province, was hit by a second mini earthquake in a fortnight which was felt in Orihuela Costa and San Miguel de Salinas.
