ARCHIVED - 11 classic cars stolen in France turn up in Cadiz, Andalusia
The antique vehicles were recovered by Spanish police in Algeciras, who arrested five people over the theft
The Guardia Civil have recovered eleven historic vehicles stolen from classic car collectors on the outskirts of Paris which were to be transported to Morocco via the Cádiz ports of Algeciras and Tarifa.
The police operation has led to five people being detained in both Spain and France for stealing the cars.
One of the routes for the international trafficking of stolen vehicles throughout Europe is their clandestine transport via the ports of Algeciras and Tarifa to Africa, where they are provided with new false documentation that makes it harder to identify and recover them.
As a result of the police investigations, an inspection was carried out in a garage in Algeciras where eleven historic vehicles were found, of well-known models such as Citroen 2CV, DS23, DS21, Prestige and the Simca Talbot, which have now been returned to their rightful owners.
