ARCHIVED - 15.5 per cent of people in the region of Valencia have received at least one Covid jab
6.2 per cent of the population are reported to have been given both doses
The regional government of Valencia reports that 15.5 per cent of the population have now received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, significantly more than the 13.5 per cent national figure produced by Spain’s Ministry of Health.
The data in the Comunidad Valenciana show that of the 663,216 people who have received at least one dose a total of 262,860 have already been given the second dose, equating to 6.2 per cent of the population. This in line the nationwide figure, and the difference in the overall total is due in part to different reporting times and procedures among the national and regional governments of Spain.
On Wednesday the national Ministry of Health reported that 336,846 doses had been administered in the previous 24 hours.
This is the highest single-day figure to date in this country – just over half a million were added to the total on 29th March but those were administered over the course of the preceding weekend – and the total of jabs given so far in Spain, including the Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines, stands at 9,357,847.
The 2,94 million people who have received both doses represent 6.2 per cent of the population, according to the latest Ministry of Health update, while 6.4 million people, or 13.5 per cent of the population, have received at least one dose.
Unfortunately, with the Ministry having hurriedly announced the suspension of AstraZeneca vaccine in the under-60s on Wednesday afternoon, the next daily updates are likely to be a little lower.
