15,000 euros for new street signs and lighting in Orihuela Costa
It comes as part of a package to improve tourist facilities
Orihuela Town Council has awarded contracts worth over 15,000 euros to improve street signage and public lighting in Orihuela Costa, aiming to enhance sustainability in tourist areas. These projects form part of the Tourism Sustainability in Destinations Programme and are fully financed by European Next Generation funds.
The initiative includes 11,495 euros allocated for replacing public lighting with energy-efficient LED luminaires in areas like Punta Prima, Playa Flamenca, and Cabo Roig. An additional 4,719 euros will go towards updating urban signage with sustainable materials to better highlight tourist attractions. These improvements are designed to reduce energy consumption and improve the visitor experience.
Further plans, totalling 10,950 euros, involve installing awnings in Orihuela’s historic centre to create shaded cultural itineraries, enhancing comfort for visitors. The overall aim of these initiatives is to contribute to the area's long-term environmental and tourist sustainability.
