The 2020 edition of the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas de La Unión flamenco festival was forced to take place exclusively online due to the Covid situation a year ago, but this year it has been confirmed that audiences will be present at a new venue, the Maquinista de Levante next to the railway station.
This choice of venue has been made in order to allow as many people as possible to attend between 29th July and 7th August, given that social distancing will doubtless be mandatory for public health reasons. The Maquinista de Levante contains various large warehouses and open spaces, and was home in the past to a mining and metallurgy company: since it was closed down it has hosted numerous events, including a concert given in 2005 by the renowned flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucía.
Details of the programme are to be published in the coming weeks.
