ARCHIVED - 26 lifeguard points up and running at Cartagena beaches for the peak summer season
90 staff on duty at the Mar Menor and Mediterranean beaches of Cartagena during July and August
With July under way the summer 2022 beach safety and lifeguard is fully operational at beaches in the municipality of Cartagena, lookout points now being manned every day at the beaches of Punta Brava, Los Urrutias, Los Nietos, Islas Menores Levante, Mar de Cristal, Villas Caravaning, Playa Honda, Playa Paraíso, Puerto Bello, La Gola, Cavanna, Cala del Pino, Monte Blanco, Galúa, Sirenas, Entremares (all of the above in La Manga and the Mar Menor), Cabo de Palos, Cala Reona, Calblanque, La Cortina, El Portús, La Chapineta (La Azohía), El Cuartel (La Azohía), San Ginés (La Azohía), Isla Plana and El Corral (Isla Plana).
This level of service will continue until the last day of August before in September it starts to be phased out, and as at other beaches in the Costa Cálida lifeguards have at their disposal all-terrain vehicles, rescue boats, resuscitation equipment and defibrillators.
In total 90 people are on duty at the lookout points in Cartagena this summer and during July and August there hours are long, lasting from 11.00 to 20.00.
