ARCHIVED - 40 per cent reduction in rental costs for 144 businesses in the marinas of the Costa Calida
The Murcia government offers pandemic relief for businesses at 18 marinas
In the context of the need to ensure the survival and recovery of businesses operating at the 18 marinas in the Costa Cálida, the regional government of Murcia has announced that the rental cost of the premises they occupy is to be reduced drastically for 2021.
The crisis in the sector has been brought about, of course, by the forced closure of these businesses during the coronavirus pandemic, which apart from a brief return to something resembling normality during last summer has led to nautical tourism grinding to a halt. On a wider scale the regional government has devoted 74 million euros to rescue packages for the tourism and hospitality sectors, and it is within the framework of that initiative that 300,000 euros are to be assigned to the reduction of rent at the marinas on the Mediterranean and Mar Menor coastlines.
144 establishments at the marinas, including bars, restaurants, tourist activity concerns and dive centres, will benefit this year from a 40 per cent reduction in their rent, in order to mitigate the effects of the pandemic and to aid their recovery when the sector kicks back into life once the health situation makes it feasible: all of those concerned will be hoping that this is the case before the summer season starts.
