ARCHIVED - 60-year-old bather dies after suffering cardiorespiratory arrest on beach in Los Alcázares
The incident took place on Playa Carrión
A 60-year-old bather died at lunchtime on Friday afternoon (July 30) after collapsing while bathing off the playa de Carrión in Los Alcázares.
She collapsed whilst in the water and was seen floating by a fellow beach user who called emergency services and alerted lifeguards nearby. She was rapidly pulled from the water by beach personnel and shortly afterwards Protección Civíl of Los Alcázares as well as an ambulance and Mobile Emergency Unit with health personnel from the Emergency Management and Health Emergencies 061 service arrived at the scene.
The injured woman was in cardiorespiratory arrest, so resuscitation manoeuvers began as soon as she was pulled from the water, but despite the efforts of beach staff and emergency health services, the bather died at the scene.
