ARCHIVED - 64 people died this weekend in Spain: Covid update October 4
The incidence rate continues to fall slow but surely, in promising news for the coronavirus situation in Spain
There were a total of 4,271 new coronavirus infections recorded over the weekend in Spain, compared to the 877 registered on Friday. This brings the total number of people infected with Covid-19 in Spain since the start of the pandemic to 4,965,399.
The cumulative incidence has continued to fall and now stands at just 54.12 per 100,000 inhabitants over the last 14 days, a drop of 3.5 points over the weekend.
New infections
Of the 4,271 positive cases recorded over the weekend, 385 happened on Sunday alone, showing a marked daily decrease from Friday when there were 877 new infections.
Cumulative incidence rate
The 14-day cumulative incidence remains low and is falling, going from 57.91 cases per 100,00 inhabitants on Friday to 54.12 cases after the weekend.
Hospitalisations
There are currently 2,364 patients admitted to hospital for Covid-19 across Spain, 637 of whom are in the ICU. In the last 24 hours, there have been 182 admissions and 122 discharges.
Deaths
In terms of deaths from Covid-19, 64 more have been reported. This brings the overall death toll from the coronavirus in Spain to 86,527 people.
Vaccinations
After the weekend, a full 77.4% of the Spanish population (36,745,965 people) have now been double jabbed and 79.5% have received one dose (37,727,757 people). That’s a total of 70,243,260 doses of Covid-19 vaccines administered in Spain since the vaccination drive began on December 27 2020.
