Arrest was easy as pie for perpetrators of half-baked stick-up, but attempts to catch factory burglars is tough nut to crack
Bandits in the Murcia region seem to be developing a sweet tooth, as both a bakery selling pastries and a candy factory have been knocked off recently. However, the thieves, who weren’t the same in the two cases, didn’t steal muffins and meringues but preferred to go for the money instead.Bakery burglary in Cartagena
The bakery robbery was pulled off at knifepoint by two men aged 24 and 31, of Moroccan and Spanish nationality respectively, who have since been arrested. They reportedly entered the bakery, located in Cartagena, and tried to distract the shop assistant by asking questions about the sweet cakes she had.One of them then approached the counter, apparently intending to pay for the buns he was buying, but instead he pulled out a knife, told her it was a robbery and demanded that she hand over the money. The robber with the knife tried to steal the cash register while the other one entered the employee area, hit the worker on the shoulder and took her mobile phone. Both men then fled the scene of the crime but were arrested later on by National Police.Sweet factory robbery in Molina
The other robbery occurred at the Golosinas Vidal sweet manufacturing centre in Molina de Segura, on the road to Fortuna. Four men in hoods and masks broke into the factory at 3am and held the security guard captive for nearly an hour while they looted and broke into two safes. The four men then made their getaway, possibly with another two accomplices, in their own car and a car belonging to Golosinas Vidal which they stole. Both vehicles were located a few hours later on the A-30 motorway in the El Carmen district of Murcia. As yet, no arrests have been made in connection with the break-in.Image: Google Maps
