ARCHIVED - Aguilas employs plan to rid the municipality of rats
Residents in Águilas, Murcia, are asked to cooperate with the local council
The department of Health from Águilas Town Hall has started an anti-rat campaign in the municipality’s sewerage system, which will be extended to all urban areas and outlying districts in Águilas between November 22 and December 17.
According to the Mayor, this ‘de-ratification’, which will be carried out on a weekly basis, is designed to gradually eradicate rats from the entire municipality and prevent the “proliferation of rodents”.
The local council has also asked that residents cooperate as much as possible by respecting rubbish removal schedules, so that garbage and food waste does not end up accumulated on public roads, as this attracts rats and insects and facilitates their breeding.
Other areas in Spain are also having problems with black rats, whose population is booming throughout the country.
