ARCHIVED - Aguilas reduces Real Estate Tax for residents
The 2% reduction will come into effect for Águilas residents (Region of Murcia) in 2022
The head of the Hacienda (Treasury) department in the municipality of Águilas, José Manuel Gálvez, has announced a reduction in the Real Estate Tax (known in Spanish as the Impuesto Sobre Bienes Inmuebles or IBI), which will be applicable to urban property in 2022.
A 2% reduction in the tax rate will be applied to those commonly known as “contribution receipts” with the objective of “alleviating the tax burden of Águilas residents”.
Mr Gálvez also stated that “the reduction of the Real Estate Tax will mean a reduction in municipal income that must be taken into account when making future budgets in order to avoid jeopardising budgetary stability”.
This tax reduction will be a welcome respite for residents, as soaring electricity prices and rising inflation rates in Spain have left a dent in everyone’s pockets this year.
