ARCHIVED - Aguilas restoring beaches to prime condition for the start of summer
Beaches including Poniente and La Cola are undergoing restoration after the wet spring of 2022
Council workers in Águilas are hard at work this week restoring the municipality’s beaches to prime condition after the heavy rain during the spring, with work having already begun at the beaches of Matalentisco, La Casica Verde, Poniente, La Colonia, Hornillo and La Cola.
This project is being financed by the national Ministry for Ecological Transition to the tune of 650,000 euros, the aim being to improve the condition of the bedrock underneath the beaches following the damage done during March and April: this March was the wettest on record in the Region of Murcia since comparable date were first compiled over 60 years ago, while April was not far behind in terms of both rainfall and the number of days of rain.
While the work is ongoing the Town Hall has called on both residents and visitors in Águilas to respect the areas which have been cordoned off – there will be plenty of time to enjoy the magnificent beaches of Águilas over the next few months!
