With the summer season just around the corner and an influx of tourists expected to visit the Region, the General Director of Mobility and Coast, Marina Munera, has announced the bus service between the stations of Murcia and Cartagena and Corvera airport will resume in June.

Ticket prices have yet to be finalised but it is understood that they will be heavily subsidised by the regional government. Six daily trips will be scheduled for each destination, three going to the airport and three coming back, and the department will closely monitor the number of passengers availing themselves of the service.

“The airport is a strategic infrastructure for tourism and the economic development of our region,” the general director explained, adding that “it is opportune to resume that service this summer to encourage tourist activity and sustainable mobility, now that the air mobility restrictions caused by the pandemic have been left behind and traffic is recovering.”

The service was cancelled at the height of the pandemic when a sharp drop in travellers rendered the buses unsustainable, but with a total of 24 routes at Corvera airport this summer, Ms Munera is confident that traveller numbers will increase substantially.

Murcia – Corvera: 8.30am; 11.30am; 8pm
Corvera – Murcia: 10.55am; 1pm; 9.30pm
Cartagena – Corvera: 10am; 1pm; 9.30pm
Corvera – Cartagena: 9.10am; 12.10pm; 8pm
