ARCHIVED - All coastal and inland bathing spots in Andalusia meet water quality requirements
377 different bathing areas across Andalucía were analysed in the study
According to a report published by the regional Ministry of Health and Family, the water at both beaches and inland bathing areas across Andalucía is within the established quality levels.
The study, which was carried out during the second fortnight of July, is based on the analysis carried out by the General Directorate of Public Health and Pharmaceutical Management.
The Ministry has examined 268 coastal bathing areas and 24 continental bathing areas (rivers and reservoirs) and all of them were apt for swimming, except the Charco Frío – Cueva del Gato in Benaoján (Málaga) as the qualification is not yet available for this area.
Different parameters were taken into account to make the evaluation, such as transparency, colour, mineral oils, presence of persistent foams and floating solids, organic remains and any other residue (glass, plastic, rubber or wood), which could affect the quality of the water and is considered to be of sanitary interest.
The water off the coast of Orihuela, in the Alicante province, has recently been praised for its excellent quality.
