Andalusia has reported a total of 1,899 new coronavirus cases and 14 deaths within the latest 24 hour period, according to the latest data from the regional statistics institute released on Thursday, 15 April.
After dropping slightly to 223 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on Wednesday, the 14-day accumulated incidence rate has risen to 225.3 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, up 44.7 points from Thursday last week, clearly demonstrating that the number of new cases detected is once again accelerating in the region.
The number of new cases was lower than the 2,368 reported on Wednesday and the 3,192 reported on Monday, but in both of those cases the figures were for two days rather than one, as there were technical difficulties on Tuesday and data is not provided on Sundays.
The number of patients who lost their lives to the virus within this latest period, 14, was lower than the 19 reported on Wednesday and the 17 reported last Thursday.
There are 1,486 Covid patients in Andalusian hospitals, the same as on Wednesday but up 146 from a week ago, and 293 of them are in ICUs, three more than on Wednesday and five more than last Thursday.
The national incidence rate has increased to 200.98 in the latest update (April 14), the first time that threshold has been crossed since 25th February. The region with the highest cumulative incidence rate in Spain is still Navarra (394.59), followed by Madrid (324.31) and the Basque Country (295.34), which are all in the extreme risk zone, but the rate in Andalucía is steadily rising and on Thursday was 225 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The lowest rate in mainland Spain is in the Valencia region (Comunidad Valenciana) which has a rate of only 34.
Vaccines: As of Wednesday evening (14 April) the total doses administered in the region was 2,047,287 with 561,429 having received two doses (6.6 per cent of the population)
