ARCHIVED - Bar and restaurant capacity limited to 30 per cent in five Murcia municipalities
Five areas in the Region have moved to the ‘very high risk’ level
As the number of coronavirus infections continues to rise in the Region of Murcia and the 14-day cumulative incidence rate surges past the national average, the indoor capacity for the hospitality industry, nightlife venues and celebrations will be reduced to 30% from this week in five ‘very high risk’ municipalities: Abarán, Alhama de Murcia, Fuente Álamo, Torre Pacheco and Mazarrón.
The decision was announced on Monday November 29 after a meeting of the Covid Monitoring Committee, but the restriction will not affect outdoor terraces of municipalities at any alert level, which can continue to operate at 100% capacity.
No further action was taken at Monday’s meeting and for now, the use of the Covid passport will not be extended, despite the Hoytú hospitality group calling for the vaccination cert to be required in other spheres, such as shopping centres.
In fact, the regional Minister of Health, Juan José Pedreño, confirmed that some 84% of Covid cases in the last two weeks were traced back to social interactions, while six outbreaks, representing 45 infections, were linked to the hospitality industry.
