Both lanes open again on the RM-19 Mar Menor road
The construction work is done for now, but the road will be reduced to one lane again after the summer
All lanes of the RM-19 Mar Menor autovía have been reopened following work being carried out by railway infrastructure manager Adif on the high-speed train line to Cartagena forced traffic to be diverted at the beginning of the year to widen a bridge located in the district of Balsicas, Torre Pacheco
Back in January, this dual carriageway, which runs from San Javier and past La Torre Golf Resort to Corvera and joining the A-30 to Murcia city, was reduced to just one lane of traffic in each direction, with the plan to reopen both lanes from June 15 in preparation for a swell of motorists on the roads for the summer season.
That reopening has come a bit late, but Adif and the Regional Ministry of Public Works are maintaining their set date of September 15, 2024 for the road to once again be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction while work on the trainline continues.
There have been major traffic jams on this road in recent months, especially at the weekend, but it is hoped that the flow of traffic will now return to normal – at least for the next month and a half.
