ARCHIVED - Aguilas council donate 3000 euros to Philippine typhoon aid appeal

The council say its public facilities are available for anyone wanting to undertake a fund raising activity

The  Ayuntamiento de Águilas has announced that it is donating 3,000 euros to the international appeal to help victims of Typhoo Yolanda, known as tifón Haiyan in Spain, which devastated the Philippines last week.
Relief efforts in Spain have been very patchy, much of the response coming from volunteer organisations working independently across the country, the Red Cross being probably the most active.

Águilas council say that they will channel the money in via one of the voluntary organisations requesting help, rather than trying to undertake any sort of independent initiative. During the week Bomberos en Acción ( firemen in action ) sent in a team from Cartagena with specialist water cleaning equipment to help restore drinking water supplies, acting via the Cruz Roja in the Philippines.

The council has said in its press release that public spaces within the municipality are available for any organisations wishing to run benefit events to help typhoon victims.
