ARCHIVED - British variant of coronavirus accounts for more than 50 per cent of cases in Madrid
The Kent (or British) variant of Covid-19 now accounts for more than 50 per cent of new cases in some areas of Madrid, the regional Health Minister has reported
Enrique Ruiz Escudero, the Health Minister for Madrid region, has announced that the British (or Kent) variant now accounts for more than half of new cases of coronavirus in some health districts in the region.
Escudero explained in a TV interview that the places with the highest prevalence of this variant correspond to those where the cumulative incidence is highest, such as Collado Villabla with a rate of 1,042.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, Torrejón de Ardoz with 780.2 per 100,000, San Sebastián de los Reyes with 775.1 per 100,000 and Alcobendas with 745 per 100,000.
