Cartagena gets a new weekly street market this Tuesday
The new street market in El Albujón will start this week

There will be a new street market starting this Tuesday September 19 in El Albujón, Cartagena, which will run every Tuesday morning throughout the year.
A year ago, the Local Government Board approved the modification of the Municipal Ordinance on Street Vending, which was necessary to include this weekly market.
Now, the market is finally ready to get up and running with 19 different stalls that will be set up between Camino de Los Garcías and Calle Descartes (see map below).
Ten of the 19 market stalls will be selling food products, six will sell clothes, one parapharmaceutical products, one shoes and there will be one more for other miscellaneous items.
The 19 vendors have their licences to sell there for the next twelve years, expressly extendable for another maximum period of twelve years, provided that compliance with the requirements established in article 9 of the Ordinance is accredited. Which is to say, this should now be a permanent staple of the local community.
The opening of the new market, which has been started up in response to ongoing demand from locals, coincides with the end of the summer season of street markets, which means that until next summer the markets in Los Urrutias, La Azohía, Islas Menores, Isla Plana and Los Nietos will all be closed.
