ARCHIVED - Cartagena park remodelled with Jurassic theme
Several large dinosaur statues have been placed in the popular Cartagena park (Murcia)
A public park in Cartagena, in the Region of Murcia, has been remodelled with lifelike statues of dinosaurs, including an emblematic Tyrannosaurus Rex, and a water fountain in the shape of a volcano.
The dinosaur theme in Parque Sauces also extends to the new floor of the park, which is decorated with enormous dinosaur footprints, giving a Jurrasic feel to the urban area. New LED lighting and exercise equipment for the elderly have also been installed in the park and the children’s play area has been revamped with shock absorbing flooring to protect youngsters from nasty bumps and bruises.
Installation of the statues – a Tyrannosaurus Rex, a Parasaurolophus, a Triceratops and a Brachilosaurus – is scheduled to be completed sometime this week, after which the park will be officially inaugurated.
The Parque Sauces is one of the largest in the city of Cartagena, occupying almost 4,300 square metres, and the remodelling work on the public space has cost around 220,000 euros.
