ARCHIVED - Cartagena replaces Christmas lights damaged by storm
The decorations on one of Cartagena’s main streets were damaged by bad weather last year
The Town Hall in Cartagena has replaced the Christmas lights along the central Calle del Carmen this year, after they were damaged by storm Gloria last festive season.
Due to the strong winds and rain most of the decorative lights were left unusable. For this year’s Christmas display, the department of Infrastructure has commissioned new lights of the same design from the same factory, but due to supply chain issues, it has not been possible to replace the lights for this festive season.
Instead, alternative lights have been placed on the street and the Town Hall has confirmed that the traditional lighting will be ready for next Christmas.
The official lighting ceremony in Cartagena will be sometime next month.
