ARCHIVED - Covid cases in the region of Valencia back into double digits: Alicante Covid update April 19
86 new cases in the region of Valencia and 22 in the province of Alicante
The official bulletin posted by the regional government on Monday (April 19) reported a slight drop in Covid cases across the Comunidad Valenciana, with only 86 new coronavirus cases in the region, of which 22 are in the province of Alicante.
Including the number from the latest official report (22), the daily average in Alicante for the past seven days is 48.28, meaning that Monday’s figure is well below the recent average. The update also detailed that there are currently 90 people hospitalized due to Covid in the province, of whom 24 are in intensive care.
A further 7 covid-related deaths were reported in the region of Valencia in the most recent update, more than half of which were in the province of Alicante (4).
The cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 residents in the past 14 days in the Comunidad Valenciana has risen even further to 39.24, although the rate remains the lowest in Spain, followed by the Balearics (60.6) and the Region of Murcia (67.01).
Meanwhile, the national rate continues to increase and currently stands at 230.54. The Spanish regions with the highest incidence rates are Navarra (428.77), Madrid (406.66) and the Basque Country (399.68).
