Perimeter closures remain in another 11 places within the Andalusian province, and one must also suspend non-essential activities.
People who live in Almería city and another 20 towns and villages in the province will be able to move from one place to another as of this weekend as their Covid-19 incidence rates have dropped, meaning their perimeter closures can be lifted.
Another 11 places, however, will have to stay put and one, Paterna del Río, must suspend all non-essential activities.
Perimeter closures will be lifted, meaning residents are able to cross municipal boundaries, in Abrucena, Alhama de Almería, Almería city, Carboneras, Huércal de Almería, Senés, Turrillas, Antas, Armuña del Almanzora, Bacares, Bédar, Cuevas del Almanzora, Mojácar, Olula del Río, Partaloa, Purchena, Tíjola, Turre, Adra, Bayárcal and Laujar de Andarax.
In Viator, Los Gallardos, Garruca, Vélez-Rubio, Balanegra, Vera, Urrácal, Lúcar, Ohanes, Pulpí, Felix and Paterna del Río the closures remain as they all have incident rates of more than 500 per 100,000 inhabitants.
While non-essential businesses and bars may re-open in Vera, Urrácal and Lúcar, where incident rates have dropped below 1,000 per 100,000, Paterna del Río has registered four new cases of Covid-19 over the last 14 days, putting its rate at 1,095.9 meaning bars and non-essential businesses must close.
Although Almería’s incidence rate has dropped to 317.2, it is still the highest of all the Andalusian provinces, and the average rate for the region as a whole is 215.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Another 191 positive Covid-19 cases were reported in Almería province on Thursday (25 February), bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 44,722. Altogether, 628 people have died of Covid-19 in Almería, while so far 30,049 have recovered. There are currently 2,796 people in hospitals across the province with the virus, 434 of them in ICUs.
