ARCHIVED - Covid update in Murcia on Wednesday: only 66 new cases but more patients in ICUs and another fatality
The 5th May update reports a testing positivity rate of 2 per cent
The latest update published at lunchtime on Wednesday 5th May by the Murcia health service reported 66 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, returning to the customary levels of the last two weeks after the figure daily climbed to 109 the day before.
Among the 66 new cases 17 were in the municipality of Murcia, 13 in Cartagena, 9 in Cieza, 4 in Lorca and 3 a Fuente Álamo, and a total of 3,161 PCR tests were carried out, giving a relatively low positivity rate of 2 per cent.
Meanwhile, the number of active cases dropped by just one to 704 following the most recent tests, while in hospitals the data present a contrast: the number of coronavirus patients receiving hospital treatment dropped by eight to 71, but the figure in intensive care units rose by two to 26.
Unfortunately, the death of a 73-year-old woman takes the pandemic toll in the Region so far up to 1,595.
