Coronavirus hospitalisations in the Region of Murcia have also dropped in the last five days
The downward trend of the coronavirus pandemic continues in the Region of Murcia, as it does in the rest of Spain, with the local health authorities reporting a 57.8% drop in daily infections on Monday August 15. Hospital pressure matches this decline, dropping by 12.4% in the last five days.
Coronavirus infections
The Region of Murcia has registered just 64 new cases of coronavirus on Monday August 15, which represents a 57.8% decrease on the 152 infections reported in the last health update, five days ago.
This brings the overall number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 452,315.
Of the total cases, 81,419 have been diagnosed in people over the age of 60.
Cumulative incidence rate
The latest data provided by the regional health authorities on Monday show that the 7-day cumulative incidence rate has dropped even further to stand at 141.44 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The average incidence over a two-week period also reflects this slowdown, decreasing significantly from 443.22 cases last week to 338.36 today.
This brings the Region of Murcia ever closer to the Spanish national average, which is currently at 283.30 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Hospitalisations and fatalities
There has been a significant drop in hospital pressure in last few days: There are currently 212 people hospitalised for Covid in Murcia, compared to 242 in the last update, which represents a 12.4% decrease. Of the total patients, 12 are being treated for more serious conditions in the Region’s ICUs (no change).
Eight more Covid-related fatalities have been registered, bringing the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis to 2,399.
Covid testing
The Region of Murcia has carried out 3,111,615 PCR and antigen coronavirus detection tests.
Vaccination data
Since the last update, 91.81% of the entire population of the Murcia Region has had a least one dose. In addition, 84.82% of people are now double jabbed.
