ARCHIVED - Curfew and perimeter closure in eight Andalusia municipalities
Punta Umbría (Huelva), Conil (Cádiz) and six other Andalucía municipalities have all passed the threshold of 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants
Eight municipalities in Andalucía have now surpassed the threshold of 1,000 Covid cases per 100,000 residents, leading the regional government to propose curfews and perimeter closures for these areas.
The municipalities, with over 5,000 inhabitants, are Mengíbar (1420.4), Tocina (1243.9), Campillos (1156.6), Marchena (1107.1), El Cuervo (1062.8), Punta Umbría (1042), Conil de la Frontera (1018.7) and Paterna de Rivera (1,008.6).
Although the perimeter closure and the curfew from 2am to 7am won’t come into effect until the measures are approved by the High Court of Andalucía (TSJA), it is highly likely that the Court will authorise the restrictions, as they did last week for three other municipalities in Málaga and Córdoba.
These three municipalities (Marbella, Estepona and Málaga city) have now dropped below the 1,000 incidence rate threshold and will no longer have a curfew or perimeter closure, although Málaga city is still extremely close to the limit: 953.4.
The curfew and perimeter closure, if approved by the High Court, will come into effect in the early hours of Friday morning (August 6).
