ARCHIVED - Curfew enforced in three Andalusia municipalities
Curfew will be enforced from 2am in Marbella and Estepona (Málaga) and in Estepona (Córdoba)
Due to the rising number of Covid cases, Andalucía will once again enforce a night-time curfew in three municipalities in the region; two in Málaga and one in Córdoba.
The regional government is prohibiting citizens to be outside of their homes between the hours of 2am and 7am in municipalities with an incidence rate of over 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the past two weeks.
In the province of Málaga, Marbella and Estepona will be affected by the measure, with the capital city of Málaga narrowly avoiding the threshold. These two areas are currently awaiting confirmation from the High Court.
Meanwhile in Córdoba, the municipality of Montoro will have a curfew from July 30, as decreed by the High Court of Andalucía.
However, this measure is only enforceable in municipalities with over 5,000 residents, and in the municipalities with under 5,000, the local health departments will have to decide whether to apply a perimetral closure if their incidence rate is over 1,000, as recommended by the regional government.
There are 34 municipalities in Andalucía with incidence rates of over 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and under 5,000 residents; seven in Granada, six in Córdoba, six in Málaga, five in Almería, five in Jaén, four in Huelva and one in Sevilla.
The regional government also proposed other measures, such as closing beaches after 11pm, in high-risk areas.
