ARCHIVED - Daily surveillance in place at Salto del Usero in Bullas, north-west Murcia
The Salto del Usero in the municipality of Bullas, north-west Murcia, will have daily surveillance under the Plan Copla.
Due to a large influx of people visiting the beautiful natural spaces cut out by the river Mula, the Salto del Usero will now be included within the Plan Copla for surveillance and rescue for this summer season.
Located in the municipality of Bullas on the northwest slope of the Castellar hill at the source of the river Mula, in a place called El Molinar, the Salto del Usero is an extremely popular bathing spot for locals and visitors alike.
Many people flock to the natural water pools which are formed by water from the source of the river Mula, which although cold, is highly refreshing in the hot summer months.
In order to keep the waters safe for visitors, surveillance will be carried out by lifeguards (Civil Protection volunteers), with support from the Local Police, every day of the week from 1 pm to 7 pm.
Be aware that the number of bathers is usually limited to prevent overcrowding and alleviate the lack of parking, so it's advisable to arrive earlier in the day as it's often impossible to find a bathing spot during the peak hours of the day.
Access is via steep steps, so this location is not suitable for those with limited mobility.
There is an open-air swimming pool at the enarby camping La Rafa for those unable to find a spot at the Salto.
