May 18 marks International Museums Day and Denia, in the province of Alicante, is celebrating with a program of free activities and tours.
The town hall of Denia is celebrating the International Museums Day on May 18 with a series of free activities to encourage the public to "rediscover the museums and Denia's unique history".
The activities kick off on Wednesday, May 12, at 7pm, with a walk through Denia's old fort, EL Fortin, in the historic Madina Daniya suburb.
On Thursday, May 12, at 7pm, an expert guide will lead a tour of the Museum of the Sea (Del Museo de la Mar).
And on Saturday, there are two opportunities to explore Denia's historic charm.
At 10.30am there will be a visit to the Toy Museum (Museo de los Juguetes) which is home to 'Betty Boop' and other dolls from the 1920's, and at 12 noon, another chance to visit the Museum of the Sea.
On Sunday morning, May 16, there's a tour of the Ethnological Museum (Museo Etnológico) and at 12 noon on Sunday, May 16, the town offers a chance to explore the Archaeological Museum (Museo Arqueológico).
The program of events will be rounded off on Tuesday, May 18 with an open day at all the museum facilities, with a little gift for anyone visiting any of the town's museums on this day (El Museo del Mar, el Museo del Juguete, el Museo Etnológico, el Arqueológico, and the castle).
Tours are limited to 20 people, and commentary will be in Spanish.
