ARCHIVED - Digital Covid-19 vaccination certificates launched in Andalusia
Those in the southern Spanish region who have had their coronavirus vaccinations will be able to use their mobile phones to download a certificate to prove it, the regional government has announced.
Although the European Union is working with the Spanish Government to organize an international “Covid green card” as a proof of vaccination, residents of the Andalusia region who have received their second dose of the vaccine against Covid-19, will be able to use a QR code via the ClicSalud+ website or the Salud Andalucia mobile application to download their certificate to prove they are vaccinated, the regional health minister said on Tuesday (2 March).
The Andalusian Health Service is in the process of improving its digital strategy in keeping with the times, making access to its services much quicker and easier. For example, people who have been contacted by track and tracers and sent for a PCR test after being in close contact with a Covid-19 positive can register through the Salud Andalucia app and will receive a notification if their test result is negative. That does not, however, mean they may leave self-isolation without permission.
The region has also implemented a single number for calls recently and resumed face to face appointments with doctors.
So far, 230,000 people in the region, 2.64 per cent of its population, have received both doses of the vaccine, the minister reported, and the authorities hope to have covered 6 or 7 per cent by the end of the month. The figures are lower than they had hoped for, as the region is still not receiving enough doses, which is putting a damper on plans to have 70 per cent of the population vaccinated by the summer. Now, the regional government is aiming for 30 or 40 per cent and has also expressed an intention to give priority to oncology patients and immunosuppressed people.
The supply situation is expected to improve in the second quarter and the region plans to mass-vaccinate once larger stocks of the vaccine are made available.
