ARCHIVED - EasyJet cancels all package holidays until March
This week both Ryanair and Jet2 have also announced dozens of cancelled flights and holidays
British airline EasyJet announced today that it will cancel all holiday packages (flights and hotel) until the end of March as a result of the restrictions imposed in different countries in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The company said in a statement that it has begun contacting customers who had booked vacations between now and March 24th, and that they will be able to change the dates or obtain a cash refund.
When the latest UK lockdown was announed on 4th January the company had suspended holidays up to the end of February but has now decided to extend the cancellations until the end of March due to the high level of cases. The company maintains that no decision has yet been made about holidays after 25th March, but said that its packages are covered under its Protection Promise, which means customers can change or defer their holiday up to 28 days before they are due to travel without incurring any change fees.
Matt Callaghan, EasyJet Holidays customer director, said: “We know this news will be disappointing. But we want to give our customers as much flexibility and choice as possible so they can decide what is best for them.
