ARCHIVED - Eerie mist engulfs the Marina Alta coastline in Alicante
Stunning atmospheric images of sea fog over Calpe, Denia and Javea have been shared on social networks
A phenomenon normally witnessed in winter, particularly in January and February, sea mist produced by a contrast between cold sea and a warmer atmosphere has led to an eerie but quite spectacular mist over much of the Marina Alta region of Alicante province today (Wednesday May 18).
It's fair to say that Alicante coastline has experienced a somewhat unusual spring with lots of rain, and now that things are hotting up, the strange haze has made an appearance over Calpe, Denia and Javea.
Coastal areas have seen highs of at least 25℃ over the last few days, reaching 29℃ in parts, and lows have rarely fallen below 17℃.
