ARCHIVED - Electric scooter user fined for speeding in Andalusia
The scooter was travelling at almost 50 kilometres per hour in Granada, Andalucía
The Local Police in Granada have fined the driver of an electric scooter who was clocked travelling at 47 kilometres per hour on Calle Luis Miranda Dávalos on Wednesday October 20. In Andalucía, as with the rest of Spain, the maximum speed allowed in public is 25 kilometres per hours.
The Community of Andalucía is taking part in a national campaign this month to increase awareness and surveillance of personal mobility vehicles with the main focus on deterring scooter and bicycle users from using footpaths in an effort to cut down accidents involving pedestrians.
On examining the vehicle in question, the Local Police verified that it had two 800W motors and was capable of reaching a maximum speed of 60 kilometres per hour. Officers charged the user for a speeding violation and for operating the scooter without proper authorisation.
