An elderly Belgian expat has tragically died after losing control of her car and smashing into a wall at a Mas y Mas supermarket in Denia today, Tuesday, June 22.
The freak accident happened in Calle Pou de la Muntanya at around 1.20pm, and according to police sources, there were no tyre marks or signs of sudden braking, suggesting the 80-year-old woman had fainted seconds before the crash.
National Police and Samu and Basic Life Support (SVB) ambulances were sent to the scene, but despite carrying out cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers and stablisation techniques on the victim, medics were unable to revive her.
A post mortem will be carried out to determine exactly what caused the crash.
