ARCHIVED - Extended opening hours at refurbished rehabilitation unit in Santa Pola
€20,000 has been spent reforming the physiotherapy room at Santa Pola Health Cente in the Baix Vinalopo comarca, Alicante province
The Valencia region's department of health has invested more than €20,000 refurbishing the physiotherapy room at Santa Pola Health Centre's Basic Rehabilitation Unit following an increase in demand.
Last month alone, the facility was used by 104 patients with 3,434 physiotherapy techniques carried out, so, in addition to the upgrade, from this week the opening hours have been extended to mornings and afternoons.
Improvements made include the replacement of the floor, which was previously uneven and posed a "safety" risk, and the solar and thermal insulation has been upgraded to brighten up the room, and create a cooler environment.
Fixed parallel panels have been replaced with adjustable and mobile alternatives, "improving the functionality of the room", as the old panels were anchored to the floor and the walls and restricted the lay out of the facility.
The centre now boasts new aparatus and obsolete equipment, such as stretchers and traction equipment, has been removed or relocated.
"As a result, it has been possible to redistribute the work areas to optimise their functionality and improve user safety" says the health centre.
The Basic Rehabilitation Unit is now open for consultations and physiotherapy from 8am to 9pm.
