ARCHIVED - Fewer Covid patients in Murcia hospitals than at any time since August
The number of ICU patients has dropped from 176 in January to just 26 as Murcia continues with a low Covid incidence rate
Murcia continues to report one of the lowest coronavirus infection rates among the 17 regions of Spain, with a figure of 62.33 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the last 14 days, and the latest data provided by the SMS regional health service on Wednesday include indications that the situation in the region’s hospitals is continuing to improve.
Unfortunately, one more Covid-related fatality was reported, taking the total since the outbreak of the pandemic to 1,575, but at the same time the number of coronavirus patients receiving hospital treatment dropped by 8 to 91, the lowest since late last August. Similarly, the number of Covid patients in intensive care units fell by 5 to 26, having reached 176 at the peak of the third wave of contagion in late January.
Among the 63 new cases confirmed in the latest daily update, 12 were in the municipality of Murcia, 9 in Cartagena, 8 in Molina de Segura, 7 in Torre Pacheco, 4 in San Javier and 3 each in Águilas, Cieza and Puerto Lumbreras. The 63 positive test results came from a total of 2,017 tests performed, representing a positivity rate of just 3.1 per cent.
