ARCHIVED - First forest fire of the year ravages 8,500m2 in Murcia
A wildfire of unknown origin burned through the Central Murcia town of Ricote on Thursday June 2
A small forest fire occurred yesterday near the tiny town of Ricote, near to Archena and Blanca in central Murcia.
Firefighters reported that the fire affected a surface area of 8,500m2, but didn’t specify the cause of the blaze.
This is the first wildfire of the 2022 summer season in Murcia, and comes hot on the heels of a forest fire in Granada the weekend before.
Thankfully, Plan Infomur personnel managed to get the Murcia fire “under control” at 3.05pm on Thursday, June 2, just a day before the Regional Consortium of Firefighters announced it would be hiring 82 more staff to deal with persistent and nefarious shortages.
