Flights diverted from Alicante to Murcia Airport due to storms
A third flight from Alicante airport was diverted to Almería
Three planes were diverted this Tuesday September 3 from Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández airport to Murcia and Almería due to heavy rain and thunderstorms, although normality was quickly restored to the Alicante airport, according to airport sources.
These diversions took place in a short period of time, around midday, according to the same sources.
A flight from London Stansted was diverted to Corvera airport, another from Manchester also had to go to Murcia airport while a third from London Gatwick went to Almería airport.
According to the updated weather warning activated by the Emergency Coordination Centre of the Generalitat in Valencia, an orange alert has been established for rain and storms in the province of Valencia and for rain on the coast of Castellón and the north coast of Alicante. There is also a yellow alert for rain and storms in inland Castellón and inland Alicante.
In the Region of Murcia, meanwhile, the alert for rain and storms this Tuesday is limited to the northwest, while on Wednesday September 4 there will be yellow weather warnings in the east and northeast of the Region for storms all afternoon.
