ARCHIVED - Four clandestine marijuana greenhouses discovered in Los Alcazares
The installations were inside illegally occupied properties, with illegal links to the electric supply
The Guardia Civíl of the Region of Murcia has carried out the second phase of operation 'Espora', detecting and dismantling four clandestine marijuana greenhouses with about 500 plants in the Los Alcázares municipality.
Phase one of the operation had identified several houses that had been illegally occupied, away from the urban center of the municipality which had been occupied by several people.
Researchers found that some of these homes, in addition to being used as a residence, had also been earmarked for illicit marijuana cultivation, and had sophisticated clandestine greenhouses installed, which were capable of producing several annual harvests of hundreds of cannabis plants at a time; for this they also had illegal connections to the electricity supply.
The latest operations in the area also located several “hot spots” for drug trafficking activities, mainly illicit cultivation and cannabis manipulation.
After obtaining all the necessary evidence and judicial authorization, the Guardia Civil raided four occupied houses in Los Alcázares, discovering four areas of active cultivation containing about 500 plants in full production.
One person has been arrested, a 28 year-old from Los Alcázares, and all of the equipment being used, as well as the stock, has been seized.
The case is being heard by the San Javier Courts.
