ARCHIVED - France reopens its borders to vaccinated Brits
Quarantine has been scrapped but travellers will still need a Covid test to enter France
Fully vaccinated travellers from the UK will be able to enter France once again from Friday January 14 without providing a “compelling” reason, French Tourism Minister Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne announced on Thursday.
Brits arriving in France will no longer have to isolate but will still need to present a negative Covid test taken 24 hours before their departure from the UK.
“They will now be able to travel from the UK for leisure and come to France to ski,” the minister stated, adding that unvaccinated travellers will need to justify their trip before being allowed to enter.

In December, France closed its border to UK tourists amid a surge of Omicron cases; all holiday and business trips from the UK were prohibited and only those with compelling work, family or medical reasons were permitted entry to France.
In addition, Brits were forbidden from travelling through France to get to other European destinations, a ban that was lifted in short order to allow UK citizens to reach their homes in other EU countries.
Following the relaxation of restrictions, Jet2 has already reported a “sharp” spike in bookings while Eurostar has committed to increasing its services to accommodate the renewed demand.
“We are still waiting for more details from the French government on entry requirements such as the rules that will apply for children. Travellers should continue to monitor the Foreign Office travel advice,” travel representatives ABTA cautioned.
