ARCHIVED - Freezing temperatures to hit the Region of Murcia this week: weather forecast January 18 to 23
Inland municipalities in Murcia are expecting below-zero temperatures
Although the coastal temperatures in the Region of Murcia are forecast to remain relatively mild this week, with day-time predictions of around 14 or 15ºC and night-time minimums of 6ºC, many inland areas are preparing for near freezing temperatures this week.
Aemet, the state meteorological agency, has even issued a yellow weather warning for the Altiplano de Murcia for freezing temperatures as cold as -5ºC, which is in effect until 10am on Tuesday morning.
With the exception of some seaside municipalities, such as Cartagena, Mazarrón and San Javier, the entire Region of Murcia is in for an extremely chilly night on Tuesday January 18, with forecasts predicting temperatures of 4ºC and below, even well into the early hours of Wednesday morning. And it’s set to get even colder in the northern half of the Region, with municipalities like Cieza, Jumilla and Yecla all expected to hit negative figures.
The forecasts for Thursday and Friday are similar, with inland areas bearing the brunt of the cold weather, especially at night.
Forecast for Thursday January 20
Moving into the weekend, Aemet is predicting widespread rain in the early hours of Saturday morning and cloudy skies for the rest of the day, with the dreary weather set to continue on Sunday.
