ARCHIVED - Green light for new Costa Blanca campsite with chalets and sport facilities
Elche Town Hall has granted a license for the construction of a 370,000 euro tourist complex in La Marina
Ambitious plans to build a large campsite with 193 plots, 25 bungalows, a cafeteria and restaurant, sports facilities and other general services in La Marina, Elche have been given the go-ahead.
According to Elche Town Hall spokesman, Héctor Díez, the new tourist complex will "be a socio-economic boost for the district and for the tourism sector in Elche, opening up even more opportunities for tourism and overnight stays in our municipality,"
Área Recreativa Humedales del Sur de Alicante SL, a company belonging to the owners of La Marina Resort, plans to invest almost 370,000 euros in the campsite which will be located at the intersection of Calle Francia and Molar road.
The license was authorised on Friday November 11 "after having obtained a Declaration of Community Interest from the Valencian Government and favourable reports in all other aspects":
During the same meeting, the future Elche Learning Factory took an important step forward with the modification of the General Plan in relation to a plot of land where the old Post Office building is located on the Paseo de la Juventud.
The Consistory agreed to adapt the use of the plot for the construction of a "specific space for research....and to support companies in Elche to diversify their activity or focus on digitisation".
