Guardia Civil arrests international fugitive in Torrevieja
The Serbian criminal had been on the run from the law for more than 5 years
The Guardia Civil in Alicante has arrested a Serbian man wanted for over five years under a European Arrest Warrant issued by Portugal in 2018.
The man, who also had a warrant out against him from a Madrid court, had been hiding in Torrevieja with his family, using disguises and counter-surveillance techniques to evade capture.
After a thorough investigation involving surveillance of various locations, officers identified the fugitive, who constantly wore disguises to avoid detection.
Finally, on September 9, 2024, he was arrested without resistance in a supermarket in Torrevieja. A fake Croatian ID was found on him, leading to additional charges of document forgery.
The suspect, known for multiple robberies, document forgery, and ties to organised crime, was taken to court and released with precautionary measures.
