The thief had tried to rob an opticians in Molina de Segura, Murcia
A local man made a citizens’ arrest on Monday night, January 24, after an attempted robbery at an opticians on Paseo Rosales in Molina de Segura.
The man witnessed the failed robbery and detained the criminal on the street by pulling him to the ground and sitting on top of him. Witnesses report that he kept the criminal at the scene for around a quarter of an hour until the Policía Nacional arrived and arrested the would-be thief.
This incident has raised concerns among residents who feel that violent crimes are on the increase in the municipality, especially after the brutal knife attack on January 12 in which a man nearly lost his hand.
